Pros: Cleans very well; easy to use; compact machine; very long cord.
Cons: Very expensive; works very slowly; tricky initial adjustments. I have used many different automatic pool cleaners in the past and the Aquabot so far seems to be the best one yet. It does a very good job of cleaning, and it is a very compact machine that is fairly easy to use once you have the initial adjustments made. Getting the proper weights attached when first using it is one of the more tedious jobs. The Aquabot works very slowly as compared to some other machines and therefore it takes longer to get a large pool cleaned. The reusable bag can be cleaned in the washing machine and I recommend doing this frequently. I would also suggest keeping an eye on it during the first few uses, to make sure that the cord position and the handle are set to allow it to sweep your pool properly. The rubber treads have a tendancy to "eat" the power cord, especially while wall climbing, if not positioned correctly for your particular pool pattern.
The cord length supplied is more than adequate. I am cleaning a 20x40 pool with entry point for the machine approx. 20 feet from an electrical outlet. The transformer box provided gives you an additional 6 feet or so of distance.
This is the first season I am using the Aquabot, so I cannot comment on the wearability of the rubber treads, which so far seem to be holding up quite well.
This is an expensive machine and is not heavily discounted anywhere. Expect to pay at least $900 for the turbo model. |
