Pros: Remarkable design solves the problem of pools with lots of steps, seats, and curves. Cons: Needs repairs and customer service is poor. Cleaning bag is no fun. Expensive. The Bottom Line: Good machine for hard to clean pools, but newer designs are coming on the market and appear to be better. I'm on my third Aquabot. The idea of the machine is perfect for my pool which looks like a natural pond rather than a swimming pool....a 6x12 wading area is on one side, while the main swimming lane is about 14 x 32...a spa is on the other side so the "Bot" has a tough job. However, company customer service is now and has always been poor. These guys just never answer the phone! Ordering parts is not easy, even with a parts list...and with this machine you will be ordering parts, lots of em. Having lived through their R&D..this is where the public gets to refine the product at their expense...I have repeatedly found myself more than a little upset at paying high prices for parts that wear out yearly.
So how come I'm on my third machine? It simply WAS the best design for my pool. I don't know if Aqua Products patents expired, but now I see very similar machines coming on the market. Aquavac makes one with a metal filter that I imagine is much easier to clean than the bag the Bot has. I had always hoped for a machine with an INEXPENSIVE throw away filter, but I guess that is not to be. Truth is, I find these machines very expensive. Perhaps, all pool cleaners started off at a high price and it is now an industry that is in a non competitive mode, price wise. My Turbo Bot is getting tired, but this time I'm going to try another manufacturer. |
