If you are the lucky owner of a beautiful pool you certainly have the "pleasure" of maintaining it that way. The simplest way to maintain your pool is to routinely perform a series of simple tasks. It is better to prevent the damage than to fix it.
The main concern is of course the pool chemistry and cleanliness.
As daily tasks you can:
- test the pool water to be certain that alkalinity and pH are in balance (unbalanced levels can affect water clarity, damage pool equipment or cause erosion)
- sanitize your pool by adding chlorine or bromine (kills bacteria, algae)
- clear debris from skimmer basket (keep pool water circulating, keep the water fresh)
More complicate tasks (to be performed weekly) are: - Weekly shock treatments that are necessary to destroy combined chlorine compounds.
- Add a dosage of algaecide to prevent and control algae
- Add a clarifier agent (clarifiers are used to remove particles from the pool that are too small to be caught in the filter system - the clarifier will group the particles making them larger so they can be filtered by the vacuuming or filtration system)
Other maintenance tasks are: - Vacuum pool (as needed)
- Leaf skim (as needed)
- Brush walls (as needed)
- Check filter
Pool maintenance can be a tedious job, but it's also an important part of keeping your pool sparkling clean for years of enjoyment. |
